A Wheeler man was injured in a small plane crash that occurred on 1700th Avenue in Wheeler at 6:07pm on Thursday.
According to a report from the Illinois State Police, 86 year old, Arthur C Michels, of Wheeler was traveling in an Ultralight Aircraft when the aircraft lost its engine power. Michels then attempted to land the aircraft and was approximately 20 feet above ground when it spiraled down and crashed. Michels sustained injuries and was taken to HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is investigating the incident.
