Effingham, IL -(Effingham Radio)- There is currently a Tractor-Trailer on the right shoulder of I-57 SB/I-70 WB, just past Exit 159, that has caught fire.
Multiple Fire Departments are on the scene addressing the issue.
We haven’t received any word yet as to what caused the fire, but there is no indication of an accident at this time.
Please try to avoid the area if at all possible.’
If you have to go anywhere near the area, proceed with due caution.
UPDATE: At 5 PM, the Illinois State Police District 12 have released the following traffic alert.
“Due to a truck tractor/semi-trailer fire I-57 southbound at milepost 159.5 only one lane of travel is open. Be prepared for slowed or stopped traffic. Take alternate route if possible.”
