The Effingham County Board approved a library book vending machine for the lobby of the County Building. Effingham Public Library Director Amanda McKay explained to the board at Monday’s meeting that the vending machine will be free for the public to use and will be maintained by the Effingham Public Library.
Board Chairman Jim Niemann read a proclamation declaring October 2-8 as National 4-H Week in Effingham County.
The board also voted to combine the Grants Committee with the Economic Development Advisory Board. Both committees agreed to make the change due to their similar functions. Additionally, there are few grants currently available.
Several appointments were approved during Monday’s meeting. Linda Ruholl was appointed to the Health Board for a two year term. Carol Warfield was appointed to replace Dr. James Gartner on the 708 Board until the end of a 2018 term and Todd Hull was appointed to the Economic Development board for a two year term.
A contribution of $15,00 was taken from the Contingencies Fund to support Manufacturing Days.
The County also approved a bid of $250,153 from Howell Paving for resurfacing a section of Lake Sara Road. Also approved were final plats for two subdivisions in St. Francis Township. One, St. Francis Subdivision, will contain 7 lots and is located on E. 14ooth Avenue. The other, Timberwood Subdivision, is located northwest of Dieterich on 2000th Street, will be divided into three lots. Developers will be required to improve the property’s access road as part of the project.
In other action the board approved the 2017 County Holidays and approved the county’s supplemental election judge list.
Jennifer Moore from Central Illinois Public Transit reported to the board that the amount of rides provides since last year has gone up. In August of this year CIPT transported over 2000 more people than August of last year.
The board also formally congratulated Effingham County Emergency Management Agency Director Pamela Jacobs on earning the Illinois Professional Emergency Manager Certification.
