Mattoon Firefighters responded to house fire Sunday morning at 217 Woodland Avenue.
Crews responded at around 9:06 Sunday morning and were assisted by the Charleston Fire Department. The home was occupied when the fire started, but was evacuated before crews arrived. There were no injuries.
The fire was suppressed before any significant heat damage was done to surrounding homes. The Mattoon Fire Department reminds residents to have an escape plan and to never reenter a burning house. The investigation to uncover the cause of the blaze is ongoing.
