
Effingham, Il (Via Mattoon, Il) – Earlier today Mattoon Police Released the Following Release on an arrest of Zachery M. Riley that occurred Yesterday during a traffic stop:
Mattoon Police, with the assistance of the East Central Illinois Drug Task Force, arrested Zachery M. Riley, 23 of Mattoon, for the offense of Possession of Methamphetamine with the Intent to Deliver, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Armed Violence.
The arrest occurred on 1/2/18 in the 1400 block of Broadway in Mattoon.
The charges allege Mr. Riley was a passenger in a vehicle during a traffic stop who fled on foot, however was soon located and found to be in possession of Methamphetamine during that time.
The charges also allege Mr. Riley was in possession of a semi-automatic handgun during that time, and had possession of the firearm while being a convicted felon.
Due to the amount of Methamphetamine Mr. Riley was alleged to have possession of, the charges were elevated to intent to deliver.
Also, since Mr. Riley was alleged to be in possession of the firearm and the Methamphetamine at the same time, he was also charged with the offense of Armed Violence.
Mr. Riley was taken to the Coles County Safety and Detention Center.
