EFFINGHAM, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Early this morning at approximately 1 a.m. police arrested
Brendan Kemme, 21, of Effingham, Melody Whalin, 19, of Effingham, Sierra Blankenship, 18, of Effingham, & Kristopher Mette, 28 of Watson.
In a brief interview with Effingham City Police Chief, Jeff Fuesting, he stated that at the time of the incident police were observing activity at the Abe Lincoln Hotel when they attempted to contact the individuals inside a room.
Upon entering police requested the assistance of a K9 unit to help with the search.
At that time the K9 alerted police to the presence of meth, and police continued to find a number of common materials used to make the drug as well as a small amount.
At the time of the incident all 4 were cited with:
- Participation in Methamphetamine Manufacturing
- Possession of Methamphetamine Manufacturing Material
- Methamphetamine Conspiracy
In addition Mette was cited with possession of methamphetamine, and Kemme was cited with possession of drug paraphernalia.
However as of 4 p.m. Today, Assistant States Attorney Fowler has released Blankenship and Whalin with no official charges filed.
