Springfield, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The Illinois Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce its endorsement for Illinois Governor: Bruce Rauner. See below for the message that was sent to our members.
“I am proud to announce this morning that the Illinois Chamber will announce its endorsement in the race for Illinois governor: Bruce Rauner. This is the culmination of a process that began some weeks ago and as we enter the homestretch of the race is an important development. We will be joined by other business groups at an announcement today at 11:00 am.” The Chamber’s endorsement process began in late spring with requests for the candidates to submit questionnaires and appear for interviews. Governor Rauner submitted his questionnaire and engaged in a lengthy discussion with the board in June. While not every member agrees with every decision made by the Rauner administration over the last 3 1/2 years, there is no doubt that the governor remains absolutely committed to policies that will return Illinois to fiscal stability, modernize state government and foster an environment where Illinois employers will thrive and create jobs.
Unfortunately, JB Pritzker did not fully participate in our endorsement process, much as he avoided the Chicago Tribune process this week. A small group of members and I did sit down for a cordial and informative lunch with Pritzker over the summer. While he is well informed and very open to dialogue, his support for a graduated income tax, a $15 minimum wage, support for trial lawyers’ agenda and lack of a meaningful commitment to reforming pensions and restoring fiscal integrity to our finances creates a stark contrast to the governor’s pro-growth agenda.
I hope you will join me in committing to the reelection of Bruce Rauner as Governor of the great State of Illinois. Yes, we have problems to address, but our potential to return to fiscal and economic health just needs the right policies and leadership. Bruce Rauner will provide both.
