Springfield, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Farmers across Illinois can expect a survey to see how they are keeping fertilizers out of the state’s rivers and lakes.
The USDA says it’ll send out the surveys early next month.
The hope is to gauge how farmers and landowners are using cover crops, wetlands, or other barriers to keep nutrients in the field and out of the watershed.
The results will be published next summer.
