LINCOLN, IL-(Effingham Radio)- A Winter Storm is expected to make its way through our listening area Friday evening through Saturday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, a fairly large area could see 6-7 inches of snow, including locations near Mattoon to Effingham and southwest.
The remainder of Central Illinois could see 4-6 inches of snow, falling over an extended period of time.
The heaviest of the snowfall will be late Friday night and early Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service’s detailed forecast for Effingham, Friday night will bring the beginning of the snow with 2-4 inches possible.
Saturday will bring more snow before 2pm, then rain and snow between 2-4, with new snow accumulations of 1-3 inches possible.
On Saturday night, snow is likely mainly before midnight, with new snow accumulations of less than 1 inch possible.
