EFFINGHAM, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Be prepared to dress for an extra cold morning Tomorrow.
According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, a 24 hour period of dangerously cold weather is expected to begin tonight.
The National Weather Service states, “By late tonight and early Friday, most of central Illinois will see wind chills in the 15 below to 30 below zero range, as actual temperatures fall below zero north of I-70.”
Wind Chill values are expected to range from -12 to -19 degrees in our listening area.
With temperatures this cold, frostbite or hypothermia can occur in a short amount of time for those not appropriately dressed for the weather.
Wind Chill Advisories have been issued for the counties in Northern part of our listening area.
The Advisory has been issued for Christian, Macon, Moultrie, Douglas, Coles, Edgar, and Shelby Counties until noon Friday.
This includes the cities of Taylorville, Decatur, Sullivan, Tuscola, Charleston, Mattoon, Paris, and Shelbyville.
