TEUTOPOLIS, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Teutopolis Knights of Columbus Hall was damaged in a fire that occurred on Saturday.
According to a post on their Facebook Page, the Teutopolis Fire Department was dispatched to the KC Hall, located at 210 Pearl Street, at 12:49pm for an activated fire alarm.
While enroute to the KC Hall, dispatch advised Fire Crews that they had received a 911 call reporting heavy black smoke.
Fire crews then asked for Montrose Fire Department to respond with a fire engine.
Upon arrival of Teutopolis fire crews, they reported heavy black smoke conditions and requested additional fire crews be dispatched for mutual aid.
Fire crews then made entry into the kitchen area, and were faced with heavy fire conditions with the ceiling collapsed.
More fire crews arrived, and they found signs fire extension in the walls and ceiling.
The cause of the fire remains under the investigation by the Teutopolis Fire Department and the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal.
The fire damage was extensive and smoke damage was reported throughout the facility.
Additionally, the building manager sustained a minor injury, but was treated on scene.
The Teutopolis Fire Department received mutual aid from the Montrose, Watson, Dieterich, Sigel, Effingham, Shumway, Altamont, Stewardson, and Brownstown Fire Departments, Abbott EMS, and MABAS Air 51.
Fire crews cleared the scene at 7:30pm.
