Louisville, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The following information was release by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
On December 08, 2019 A Clay County Sheriff’s Deputy encountered a 2017 Dodge Hatchback with suspended registration to be travelling eastbound on Hwy 50 near Clay City. When the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle at Hwy 50 and Main Street, the driver accelerated and fled from the deputy. The vehicle was found abandoned a short time later in Wayne County. The vehicle was impounded pending further investigation.
On December 13, 2019 the Flora Police Department notified the Clay County Sheriff’s Office that they had taken the suspect into custody that was wanted from the pursuit.
As a result of the investigation Aaron P. Lawrence, age 27, of Duquoin, IL, was arrested on Perry and Washington County Warrants. Lawrence was also charged with Aggravated Fleeing to Elude and Operation of a Motor Vehicle with Suspended Registration, bond was set in amount of $50,000 (10% to apply).
Sheriff Andy Myers credits this arrest to the extra effort put forth in this investigation by the deputies, Chief Guye Durre and his officers.
