Springfield, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The Illinois State Board of Education is working to address the disproportionate number of minority students statewide that face school discipline.
Despite a four-year drop in expulsions and suspensions overall, board members say more must be done to address disparities in disciplinary actions.
Schools ranking in the top 20-percent of disproportionate suspensions will now be required to take corrective action.
