Carbondale, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Members of the Illinois Army National Guard are being recognized before their deployment.
A special ceremony was held yesterday in the Banterra Center on the campus of SIU Carbondale for the 2nd Battalion, 130th Infantry Regiment.
Units are located in Marion, West Frankfort, Mt. Vernon, Litchfield, and Effingham.
The troops are deploying in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
Several lawmakers attended, along with Governor J.B. Pritzker.
