Springfield, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Governor J.B. Pritzker is proposing using a portion of the state’s recreational marijuana tax revenue for addiction and mental health services.
Feedback from Illinois residents indicates that mental health concerns are high and residents are calling for more state support.
Pritzker has designated 22 percent of the estimated 40-million dollars in cannabis tax revenue for mental health services.
Lawmakers now have until May 31st to approve the governor’s proposed budget, including the designation for mental health and addiction funding.
