Effingham, IL -(Effingham Radio)- In light of this COVID-19 pandemic we all must remember our civic responsibilities and do our very best in our efforts to protect the vulnerable in our communities.
If you are a business still in operation during the Governors stay at home order please consider the contribution of your business and the seriousness of this situation that may require extraordinary sacrifices for the good of your community and our county. While reflecting on your contribution to your community, please ask yourself “Is this business essential to providing one of the community lifelines in this health crisis; communication, energy (power and fuel), food, water, shelter, health and medical, safety, security and transportation?”
If, in good conscience, you cannot answer yes to that question, please consider the ramifications your decision to remain open could have on your employees, their families, their communities, and our county, state, and country as a whole.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, COVID-19 adviser to President Trump, has stated that we must “intensively adhere to the social distancing guidelines throughout this pandemic”. Governor Pritzker has extended the stay at home order. Folks, we are down range and in the sights of this virus. None of us want to be on this battlefield. The only way to get through this is to follow the guidelines as strictly as we can to hide from exposure to this virus. The government’s priority is to get things back to normal so that we can all get back on with our lives as soon as we can. The only way that happens is if you, I, and our neighbors work together as a team to get through this. The alternative is just too terrible to describe.
As a community we have pulled each other through large-scale blizzards, wars, and terrorist attacks, and it is critical we do so once again.
You can stand tall in your community knowing you did everything in your power to protect the vulnerable in your community and were a partner in your county, state, and national efforts to be resilient in this world-wide health disaster. Do your part and bring good on you.
