Mattoon, IL -(Effingham Radio)- This August, HSHS Medical Group Multispecialty Care – Mattoon, located at 101 Coles Centre Pkwy., Suite 100, is welcoming three new specialists: Kevin Calder, MD, FRCSC, plastic, reconstructive and hand surgeon; John Powell, MD, orthopedic surgeon; and Susan Lock, CNM, certified nurse midwife in obstetrics and gynecology.
Kevin Calder, MD, FRCSC
As a plastic, reconstructive and hand surgeon, Dr. Calder offers surgical and non-surgical treatments to help patients who want to change or enhance parts of their faces or bodies; he also works to improve the appearance and quality of life for patients who need reconstructive surgery due to birth defects, injuries, mastectomies and more.
Dr. Calder earned his medical degree at University of British Columbia in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He completed a plastic surgery residency at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He performed a craniofacial/pediatric plastic surgery fellowship at Magee-Rosenblum Plastic Surgery in Norfolk, Virginia. Dr. Calder is a member of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, American Association for Hand Surgery and American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

John Powell, MD
In orthopedic surgery, Dr. Powell specializes in the surgical and non-surgical treatment of knee, hip and shoulder conditions, as well as joint replacement surgery.
Dr. Powell earned his bachelor’s and medical degrees at University of Missouri-Columbia in Columbia, Missouri. He performed an orthopedic surgery residency at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, Dr. Powell is also a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Susan Lock, CNM
A certified nurse midwife in OB/GYN, Susan is an advanced practice nurse who cares for women from the childbearing years into menopause. She offers primary and preventive care, gynecologic and obstetric care, family planning services and care throughout pregnancy.
Susan received her Master of Science in Nursing, Certified Nurse Midwife, at the University of Illinois at Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Lakeview College of Nursing in Danville, Illinois.
