Mattoon, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The Lake Land College Board of Trustees expressed its collective gratitude to retiring Illinois State Senator Dale Righter for his outstanding support of Lake Land’s mission during his 24 years of state legislative service.
Senator Righter served the 55th Senate District since 2003, after having served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1997 to 2003. Throughout this time, Senator Righter has been a strong legislative advocate for Lake Land College and its mission.
Senator Righter was instrumental in helping Lake Land College secure state funding for development of phases two and three of the West Building that houses its agriculture and technology programs.
“We are grateful for Senator Righter’s continued support of our mission throughout his many years of state legislative service, and we offer our congratulations for his retirement,” Lake Land College President Josh Bullock said.
Lake Land College continuously strives to create and improve an affordable, accessible, and effective learning environment for the lifelong educational needs of the diverse communities it serves. The college also seeks to collaborate with legislators and advocate for state and federal policies that will advance the college’s mission.
Senator Righter has done so throughout his years of state legislative service, and for this, the Lake Land College Board of Trustees offers its collective gratitude.
Lake Land College District 517, located in Mattoon, Illinois, serves the second largest community college district in the state, with a total population of 189,869. The Lake Land College district comprises all or part of 15 counties and 31 public school districts in rural east central Illinois. Counties served by Lake Land College include: Christian, Clark, Clay, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Macon, Montgomery, Moultrie and Shelby.
