Effingham, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Effingham County Sheriff Dave Mahon is shown presenting the “Sheriff‘s Award” to Steve and Theresa Kaufman, owners of Heartland Towing and Recovery.
It was awarded for their continued support of the Effingham County Sheriff‘s Office and their commitment to the Effingham County Community. In June of 2020, Heartland Towing and Recovery donated and towed several used cars to the Illinois State Police range in Heartville to be utilized for training by the Effingham County Sheriff‘s Office. The training was a Live Fire, Close Quarter Battle Class, taught by the US Marshal Service.
This training greatly enhanced the ability and tactics of Sheriff‘s Deputies to respond to an Active Shooter Incident, in and around vehicles. Needless to say, all the vehicles had to be towed back from the range.
