Altamont, IL -(Effingham Radio)- High School Senior Application
Qualifying Criteria:
- Any graduating high school senior who is an employee, the child of an employee, or the child of a member (in good standing) of the Altamont Chamber of Commerce, is eligible to apply.
- Must have earned a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 Point Grading Scale at the end of the 1st senior semester.
Scholarship Amount: $500
Requirements:
- Must have a letter of verification from the Altamont Chamber of Commerce member indicating that you are either an employee, the child of an employee, or the child of an Altamont Chamber of Commerce member in good standing.
- Must have participated in at least three (3) community service projects or extra curricular activities during high school career. List community service projects or extra-curricular activities on application.
- Provide a copy of your transcript to prove GPA standing.
- Must write an essay explaining why he/she should be chosen to receive a scholarship. Winner MUST ATTEND THE REGULAR ALTAMONT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MEETING IN JUNE OR JULY following the awarding of scholarship and READ ESSAY. The essay must be limited to 500 words.
- MUST BE STUDENT IN GOOD STANDING AS DETERMINED BY THE ALTAMONT CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE. • Must be accepted and will be attending an institution of higher education or trade school.
- Letter of recommendation from a teacher, school counselor, coach, administrator, employer, or clergy. A letter or recommendation will not be accepted from the ACHS Guidance Counselor who is a regular member of the Scholarship Committee.
- Completed application due to Guidance Counselor by March 31st. Counselor will give all applications to Altamont Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Committee Chairman.
- Scholarship Winner will need to provided Social Security Number &/or Student ID
Scholarship Committee Members: Altamont Chamber of Commerce Board and ACHS Guidance Counselor
Use of Funds:
- The scholarship funds are to be used for tuition, books, and fees only. Funds are paid directly to the college upon receipt of enrollment verification.
