Effingham, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin thinks there may be relatively few extremists in the vast Pentagon structure.
Austin acknowledged that small numbers can have an “incredible impact” during a Pentagon briefing. Austin said militant extremism “tears at the very fabric of cohesion” in the U.S. armed forces. Austin is the nation’s first Black secretary of defense. The military branches are undergoing one-day stand-downs over 60 days to review the situation.
The review was prompted by the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol. Some right-wing extremist groups were involved in the assault and reportedly included some current and former members of the military.
