Dewitt County, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by the Illinois State Police District 6:
WHAT:
- Two Unit Fatal Traffic Crash
WHERE:
- Interstate 74 eastbound @ milepost 159 (near Famer City), Dewitt County
WHEN:
- Feb. 18, 2021 at approximately 4:30 a.m.
VEHICLE:
- Unit 1- 2004 Red Chevrolet Colorado
- Unit 2- 2019 White International Truck Tractor Semi-Trailer Combination
DRIVER:
- Unit 1- 28-year old male of Le Roy, IL (Deceased, Pending Family Notification)
- Unit 2- Lucas A. Bullard, 32-year old male of Rutledge, TN
PRELIMINARY:
- A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Units 1 and 2 were traveling on Interstate 74 eastbound at milepost 159 (near Farmer City). The driver of Unit 1 lost control of the vehicle on the icy bridge deck. Unit 1 struck the guardrail on the left and right side of the roadway. After striking both guardrails, Unit 1 became disabled in the left lane with the driver’s side facing eastbound traffic. The front end of Unit 2 struck the driver’s side door of Unit 1. The driver of Unit 1 was transported to a local area hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he was later pronounced deceased. At approximately 4:50 a.m., all eastbound and westbound lanes were shut down for the traffic crash investigation and cleanup of debris. The westbound lanes were re-opened at approximately 5:34 a.m. All lanes were reopened at approximately 7:27 a.m.
