Charleston, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Throughout April, Eastern Illinois University will Celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month with a variety of events on campus. Due to COVID restrictions, events will either be held virtually or with purposefully spaced accommodations.
Public events at EIU for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month will include:

AAPI: #EIUnited Against Asian Hate Virtual Candlelight Vigil

Join the EIU community to stand against racism and violence against Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. The vigil will pay tribute to the victims and will include a virtual candle ceremony, reflections focusing on racism and the challenges faced by the Asian-American/Pacific Islander community.

Teach Me Tuesdays: A Taste of Teas

Join the University Board for a fold-tastic time – pick up a kit to create amazing origami designs from the comfort of home. Origami kits may be picked up on Tuesday, April 20th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the MLK Jr. Union Bridge Lounge Walkway. Origami the art of paper folding is rooted in Asia and reflects the ingenuity and aesthetics of Japanese culture.
