Effingham, IL -(Effingham Radio)- Effingham County Health Department announced twenty-one new positive cases of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) from Friday, April 9 through Sunday, April 11. There were six cases on Friday, April 2, ten cases on Saturday, and five on Sunday. Positive case demographics are as follows:

Effingham County Health Department has seen a lot of COVID cases presenting with gastrointestinal issues, diarrhea, nausea or vomiting and suggests if you are experiencing these symptoms to get tested for COVID.
COVID has a wide range of possible symptoms:
- Fever or chills
- Cough
- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
- Fatigue
- Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- New loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
The Department has a first dose Moderna Clinic on Thursday, April 15, 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and advises those ages 18 and over to make an appointment to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
Illinois Region 6 rolling test positivity was 2.6% through April 8, while Effingham County was 7.4% for the same period.
