April 18, 2021
- Effingham Police arrested 34 year old Robert B. Steele of Muskogee, OK for DUI/alcohol. Robert was given an NTA and was released.
- Effingham Police arrested 41 year old Erin E. Bertiaux of Effingham for an Effingham County FTA warrant for possession of <5g of meth. Erin posted $375 and was released.
- Effingham Police arrested 33 year old Joshua R. Shirley of Effingham for driving w/suspended or revoked license. Josh was given an NTA and was released.
April 19, 2021
- Effingham Police arrested 22 year old Tonda M. Griffith of Effingham for domestic battery. Tonda was taken to the Effingham County jail.
April 20, 2021
- Illinois State Police arrested 53 year old Scott D. Benehoff of Machesney Park, IL for DUI/alcohol, resisting a police officer, illegal transportation of alcohol, pedestrian under influence, and no driver’s license. Scott was given an NTA and was released.
- Effingham Police arrested 43 year old James W. Bowlin of Altamont for violation of perole, criminal damage to property, residential burglary, theft under $500. James was taken to the Effingham County jail.
- Effingham Police arrested 30 year old Jesse W. Garza of Iola for possession of <5g of meth. Jesse was given an NTA and was released.

CRASHES
April 10, 2021
- At 2:31 A.M. at the intersection of Fayette and 5th a vehicle driven by Aric A. Cornell, 41, Effingham, struck a semi driven by Paris L. Blake, 45, Cairo. Blake sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital for treatment. Cornell left the scene but later reported injuries. Cornell was ticketed for Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Failure to Yield.
April 19, 2021
- At 9:04 A.M. at the intersection of Keller and Evergreen a vehicle driven by Joyce A. Heuerman, 78, Effingham, struck a semi driven by Robert A. Retzleff, 65, Ft. Atkinson, WI. No injuries and no citations.
