Newton, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The 150th Jasper County Fair is in the history books. The week began with records being broken during Sunday’s harness race, and racing continued on Monday. A fitting way to open up the 150th Jasper County Fair.
Sunday’s highlights included harness racing, dedication of the Larry Casey Jr. Livestock Building, talent contest and a concert from Chasing DaVinci with Virgil Jansen and Brinley Beam winning Sr. and Jr. divisions of the talent contest. Monday night Alivia Huddlestun was crowned 2021 Jasper County Fair Queen, and the first Jr. Miss, Zoey Michl, was crowned to represent the Jasper County Fair throughout the year.
The week continued with a full afternoon and evening of tractor and truck pulls the following night with great attendance each night. The Flat Drags were a big hit with attendance increasing nightly. The main event was the Wippoorwill Rodeo and demo derby on Friday and Saturday which saw sold out grand stand attendance both nights.
Livestock shows were held at the new Larry Casey Jr. Building and ended with a sold out dairy show on Saturday morning.
The fair itself ended with a bang as fireworks were set off as a celebration of Independence Day.
