Mattoon, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The following information comes from the Mattoon Police Department:
Mattoon Police arrested Richard W. Beckler, age 54 and Homeless, for the offenses of Felony Theft, Obstructing Justice, Fugitive from Justice, and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.
The arrest occurred on July 17th at 5:30pm in the 800 block of Richmond Ave. The charges allege that Beckler stole several items from Walmart and provided Officers with a false name. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Beckler an arrest warrant out of Missouri. Beckler was identified as a register sex offender and failed to notify authorities his change of address after traveling to Mattoon. Beckler was transported to the Coles County Safety and Detention Center. Bond was set at $150,000 (10% applies) for the Fugitive for Justice charge and $100,000 (10% applies) for the remaining charges.

Mattoon Police arrested Duane A. Beachy, age 34 of Mattoon, for the offense of Possession of Methamphetamine.
The arrest occurred on July 18th at 8:47am in the 2400 block of Marshall Ave. Officers made contact with Beachy after they received a complaint of him sleeping in his vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted on the vehicle after a Police K9 alert and Methamphetamine was located. Beachy was transported to the Coles County Safety and Detention Center. He was later released on a $0 Bond.

Mattoon Police arrested Randall H. Myers, age 35 of Mattoon, for the offense of Aggravated Battery w/ Weapon.
The arrest occurred on July 19th at 8:26pm in the 900 block of Piatt Ave. It is alleged that Myers cut another individual in the face with a knife during an argument. Myers was transported to the Coles County Safety and Detention Center. Bond was set at $25,000 (10% applies).

Mattoon Police arrested Caitlyn J. Watson, age 32 of Mattoon, for the offenses of Domestic Battery and Aggravated Battery of a Child.
The arrest occurred on July 21st at 2:51pm at the Mattoon Police Department. It is alleged over the course of several days Watson punched a juvenile, dragged her by her hair, and struck her with a kitchen utensil. Watson was transported to the Coles County Safety and Detention Center. She was release on a $0 Bond.
