Chicago, IL -(Effingham Radio)- The Galesburg, Illinois man who pled guilty to burning down a Sprint store in Minneapolis during rioting last summer, could get ten years in prison. 29-year-old Matthew Rupert pled guilty to arson in Minnesota.
Prosecutors say he was headed for Chicago to riot there when he was arrested. He admitted he squirted lighter fluid on boxes inside the store and set them on fire, destroying the business and causing four-million dollars in damage. Prosecutors say the 10-year sentence would send an important message.
Rupert will be sentenced on August 10th.
