Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham High School football field will look a little different next year.
The Effingham Unit #40 School Board approved the upgrade of the high school field from grass to turf on Monday, which will be implemented before the next school year if all goes well. With the price tag for the turf field nearing $1.5M, donations to the project made the upgrade possible. Over $700K was raised through private donations, and in response, the school board voted unanimously to fill in the gap and match those funds.
Superintendent Mark Doan released a short statement that simply says “Thank you for everyone’s support. We look forward to moving the project forward.”
