EFFINGHAM, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham City Council held a meeting today at 5pm and discussed numerous agenda items.
After the omnibus vote agenda was finished, Effingham Police Chief Jason McFarland presented Josh Pointer with a Citizen Service Citation for assisting the Effingham Police Department in catching a wanted individual who robbed First Mid Bank & Trust in March and crossed state lines into Indiana.
He was commended for the critical information he gave and actions he took that led to the individual’s arrest.
Numerous other ordinances and resolutions were heard and voted on:
- 5-year capital improvements plan for fiscal year 23 – Approved
- Site plan amendment for planned residence district, Golden Fields Subdivision – Approved
- RuralMed LLC special use permit – Approved
- Liquor License authorizations for Maria’s Taco House and Lucia’s Italian Kitchen – Both Approved
Other discussion items were pushed back to the next meeting for vote:
- Pay ranges for various non-union salaried and hourly positions within service of the City
- Fourth of July financial request
- Nextsite Proposal
The next City Council meeting is May 3rd.
