Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Chamber Foundation of Effingham County celebrated the recipients of the 2022 Chamber Foundation Scholarships at the Annual Scholarship Recipient and Sponsor Luncheon on Friday, June 3 at the Keller Convention Center.
Eight recipients were awarded $1,000 scholarships of which four were local graduating high school seniors and four were adults who are starting or continuing their secondary education.
The Jack Graham Scholarship, which is named after the late Jack Graham, a local entrepreneur, is awarded to an individual who is currently in or going into healthcare, childcare, or a vocational trade. This scholarship was awarded to Sydney Hanfland. Hanfland graduated from Teutopolis High School this year and plans to attend Eastern Illinois University to pursue Communication Disorders & Sciences.
The seven Chamber Foundation Scholarships were awarded to:
- Krista Phillips, a 2022 Effingham High School graduate planning to attend Illinois State University to study Marketing.
- Maria Poston, a 2022 St. Anthony High School graduated planning to attend Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville to pursue Biochemistry.
- Britney Walls, a 2022 Effingham High School graduate planning to attend Eastern Illinois University to study Business Management & Human Resources.
- Emily Becker, from Altamont who attends Eastern Illinois University studying Clinical Mental Health Counseling.
- Claire Beckman, from Dieterich who attends Eastern Illinois University where she studies Communication Disorders & Sciences.
- Abby Bloemer, from Teutopolis who studies Exercise Science-Human Health & Performance at Illinois State University.
- Alli Brumleve, a Teutopolis resident who recently finished at Lincoln Land Community College and plans to attend Illinois State University in the Fall studying Middle Level Education.
All 2022 sponsors of the Chamber Foundation Community Scholarship Program were recognized during the luncheon. Since its inception in 1996, The Chamber Foundation of Effingham County has awarded 201 scholarships in the amount of $238,000.
