Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- An Effingham County Jury has found Martin Hubbard guilty of eight counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault.
The trial of Hubbard concluded on Thursday, July 28th, when a jury of Hubbard’s peers found him guilty of all eight counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Minor/Victims less than 13 years of age.
The trial began on Monday, July 25th and both the State and Defense gave their closing arguments at Today’s session.
At 2:25pm, the court was advised that the Jury had came to a decision and that they had found Hubbard guilty.
Hubbard’s bond was revoked over objection.
He will return to court on September 20th at 1:00pm for post-trial motions and sentencing.
Hubbard faces a mandatory sentence of 6-60 years in the Illinois Department of Correction per each count.
He could also be subject to a mandatory sentence of natural life in prison.
According to an earlier article we posted regarding Hubbard’s indictment, “The inquiry into the allegations was initiated in late August after a report was made to Effingham City Police of a sexual assault which occurred at an in-home daycare in the 1000th block of Grove Place. Further investigation identified multiple juveniles, all under five (5) years of age, as victims.”
