Washington, DC-(Effingham Radio)- Four senators are introducing a bill that would protect abortion access. Democrats Tim Kaine of Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona teamed up with Republicans Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska on the measure.
Abortion rights would be protected federally up to viability and even past that point if the mother’s life is in danger. Viability nor the mother’s life being in jeopardy is defined as a doctor would be the one to determine those things. The proposal comes weeks after the U.S. Supreme Court voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, the decades-old decision which legalized abortion in the U.S.
