Gurnee, IL-(Effingham Radio)- A shooting outside a Six Flags amusement park in Illinois is under investigation. Two people were shot and another injured after shots were fired from a car in the parking lot of Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, this witness describes the scene inside the park.
Two of the victims were treated at a hospital, while the third declined treatment. Police believe it was a targeted incident and not an active shooting. The car fled the scene and no one is currently in custody. The park closed early and was evacuated by police. Six Flags Great America is about 20 miles away from Highland Park, where a mass shooting on the Fourth of July killed seven people and injured dozens of others.
Gurnee Police Public Information Officer Shawn Gaylor said the incident isn’t believed to have been a random shooting.
