Clay County, IL-(Effingham Radio)- From the Clay County Sheriff’s Office Facebook Page:
On July 27, 2022 at approximately 7:37 a.m. the Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of theft of a tractor in Clay City. The victim advised that unknown person(s) had entered the tractor without permission and drove the tractor along the edge Highway 50 until it became stuck.
During the course of the investigation the sheriff’s office was notified by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office of a truck that they had located burnt in their county. It was determined that the truck was owned by a resident from Clay City which had been stolen from a location near where the tractor had been stuck. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office searched the area for the suspect but was unable to locate the suspect at that time. Following the search for the suspect the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office located a subject matching the description of the suspect. The suspect was taken into custody on unrelated matters and was transported to the Jefferson County Jail.
As a result of this incident a warrant was issued in Clay County Court for Dillon S. Beccue, 30, of Edgewood for the offense of Theft more than $500. Beccue’s bond was set in amount of $30,000 (10% to apply). Beccue later posted bond and was released.
“We are extremely grateful to the Wayne and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation” states Sheriff Andy Myers.
The charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
