Summitt Township, IL-(Effingham Radio)-Two people were injured in an accident that occurred in Summitt Township at 3:49pm on Saturday.
According to a report from the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred at the intersection of 900th Street and 1350th Avenue.
The report states that a vehicle driven by 27 year old, Jed Phillips, of Atwood, Tennessee was traveling northbound on 900th Street and was approaching the intersection with 1350th Avenue.
At the same time, a vehicle driven by 78 year old, James Einhorn, of Effingham was traveling eastbound on 1350th Avenue, where he failed to stop at the stop sign, and entered the intersection.
Phillips struck Einhorn on the passenger side.
Einhorn’s vehicle left the roadway to the northeast and overturned, landing on its wheels in a grassy area approximately 30 yards from the intersection.
Phillips’ vehicle came to a rest somewhat in the ditch of 900th Street.
Phillips’ passenger, 27 year old, Tia Phillips, of Atwood, Tennessee was not wearing her seatbelt and sustained injuries.
She was transported to HSHS St Anthony’s Memorial Hosptial by Rural Med.
Einhorn also sustained injuries.
He was cited for disregarding a stop sign.
