It was a tail of two halves for the Pirates as they fell to Casey 65-43.
Cumberland came out strong in the first quarter as they traded the lead back and forth with Casey and led after the first quarter 16-14. The two teams kept trading the lead in the second quarter with 3 ties and 3 lead changes in the second quarter when Casey to the lead for the final time at 24-22, Casey would lead at the half 29-24.
The second half was where things went wrong for Cumberland as they commited 11 turnovers in the second half and were never able to get the lead under 6 for the entire second half. Casey led 40-30 after the third quarter. Casey then came out on a 6-0 run to start the 4th quarter as they dropped into a zone defense that forced multiple Cumberland turnovers. The Pirates tried to come back but could never get it back to single digits in the 4th quarter and they fell 65-43.
With the loss Cumberland is now 1-4 on the season. The Pirates will be in action Saturday night when they host Neoga at 6 PM.
