Mattoon Police arrested Jared R. Edwards, age 36 of Mattoon, for the offense of Possession of Methamphetamine. The arrest occurred on January 16th at approximately 2:10am in the area of Old State Rd and 650E.
The offense alleges that a Mattoon Officer initiated a traffic stop after observing him operating a vehicle with a suspended Illinois Driver’s License. During the traffic stop a Police K9 alerted on the vehicle, indicating a presence of a narcotic odor. During the investigation Officers located a pouch on the side of the road, near the traffic stop. The pouch contained drug paraphernalia and Methamphetamine. Edwards admitted to throwing the contraband from the vehicle prior to the vehicle stop.
A Coles County warrant was later issued for Edwards. He was processed on the warrant and released.
