Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Windy conditions and storms, some possibly severe, are slated to move through our area later this week. This comes with a change in temperature as well.
Showers and a few thunderstorms will develop later tonight across parts of the area. The coverage of showers and storms will then increase through the day Wednesday, peaking in the afternoon.
We’ll see quite the range in temperatures across central and southeast Illinois the next few days. Areas near and south of I-70 will be well into the 60s Wednesday and Thursday, and may even nudge 70 degrees. Meanwhile, 40s will be more common from Galesburg east. With a warm front in place on Wednesday, widespread rain and thunderstorms will occur near and north of I-72, while they are more scattered south of there until afternoon and evening.
Another windy period is on tap mid week. South of a warm front on Wednesday, some gusts will approach 40 mph near and south of I-70.
A more widespread area of 40-45 mph winds is likely Thursday, highest near and north of I-74, as the storm system exits the region.
