On 3/29/2023 at 2:22 hours, Teutopolis with auto-aid from Montrose FPD were dispatched to a roll-over semi tractor trailer, Interstate 70 westbound at the 101 mile marker. This is within the ongoing construction zone. Upon arrival, Firefighters found two occupants from the semi that had self extricated thru the windshield laying along the shoulder. Upon arrival of Rural Med EMS, Firefighters assisted in moving both patients to ambulances who then transport both to the hospital.
Heartland Towing and Recovery are on scene removing product from the trailer before it can be moved (which should occur overnight since it will require westbound traffics to be shut down).
NOTE: Interstate 70 is under construction from the 99 mile marker to the 105 mile marker with only one traveling lane in each direction separated by a concrete barrier wall. If you cannot use an alternate route PLEASE use extreme caution traveling through the construction zone especially when First Responders are working accident scenes. We want all of our personnel to return home safely.
