Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Central Illinois is seeing its first severe thunderstorm threat in a while this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, the main timing for severe weather is from mid-Saturday evening through early Sunday morning.
The main threat with these storms is damaging winds, although an isolated tornado and isolated large hail cannot be ruled out.
These storms are expected to weaken as they move further into Central Illinois.
As such, counties within our listening area are under a marginal or level 1 of 5 for severe weather.
The National Weather Service also said that some strong storms may develop again on Sunday afternoon; however, there is uncertainty about the risk at this time.
