Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- From the Teutopolis Fire Protection District Facebook Page:
On Saturday 9/16/2023 at 20:44 hours, Firefighters were dispatched to Three Z Printing, 906 West Main Street for a reported structure fire. The dispatch center received a 9-1-1 call for smoke coming from the building and a subsequent call for a fire alarm activation. This is a large printing facility.
Upon arrival smoke was visible at the north end of the plant. C600 went to a Full Still alarm for a working fire – mutual aid received from Montrose FPD, Watson FPD, Sigel FPD, and Rural Med EMS. Firefighters first entered on the north east side and reported heavy smoke conditions with no heat or visible fire. Firefighters exited and re-entered from the north west side and again reported heavy smoke conditions and heat.
Firefighters advanced 2 attack lines approximately 150’ in to the building and found a machine press on fire. The building sprinkler system held the fire “in check”. Firefighters reported the fire extinguished at 20:18 hours. Firefighters checked for any extension with thermal imaging cameras and began the process of ventilating the building. Working with employees from Three Z, the buildings internal fans assisted greatly with ventilation of the large facility.
Teutopolis Police and Effingham County Sheriff were also on scene. Mutual-aid companies cleared the scene at 23:32 hours – all remaining companies from Teutopolis cleared the scene at 00:01 hours. The Office of the State Fire Marshal and Teutopolis FPD are investigating the cause of the fire.
There were no injuries. No damage estimates are yet available.
