Monticello, Carbondale, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Recently, 6 South Central FFA members have participated in two Forestry Career Development Events.. This event requires participants to demonstrate skills and knowledge needed in forest management.

The contests consisted of a general knowledge exam, map interpretation, tree identification, forestry tool identification, timber cruising, forest/tree disorders identification, and chainsaw parts/troubleshooting. The CDE was held on Thursday, September 12th, at the 4-H Memorial Camp, in Monticello, Illinois.
The second event was the State Forestry CDE, held at Southern Illinois University, in Carbondale, Illinois. South Central FFA placed 9th as a team. The South Central FFA State Forestry team included Hailey Shuler, Kenzie Sullens, Chase Hassebrock, Bailey Wodtka, Meagan Lotz and Wyatt Iler.
