Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)-To increase access to State and Federal elected office holders, Effingham County Board Chairman, Josh Douthit, kicked off a new program known as the “Chairman’s Corner”. The program is designed to bring local Effingham County elected officials and department heads together with State and Federal elected office holders. The purpose is to make sure all elected officials who represent Effingham County have direct access to each other promoting positive working relationships and facilitating a united effort in meeting the needs of Effingham County residents.
Chairman Douthit recently hosted State Senator, Steve McClure, at the first Chairman’s Corner. Senator McClure was able to speak directly to Effingham County elected officials and department heads about the issues facing Effingham County and those issues discussed in Springfield that have a direct impact on Effingham County.
Senator McClure spoke on the need to improve and/or amend the Safe-T-Act as well as conducted a question and answer session with the Effingham County officials in attendance. Senator McClure has been instrumental in keeping Effingham County values at the forefront in Springfield. Senator McClure has blocked bad appointments to the Prisoner Review Board and has been instrumental in introducing positive legislation that now helps protect DCFS workers in Illinois.
Chairman Douthit would like to thank Senator McClure for taking the time to meet with Effingham County elected officials and department heads. Chairman Douthit plans to host a Chairman’s Corner event every quarter throughout the year and hopes the program will prove beneficial for Effingham County and its residents.
