Springfield, IL-(Effingham Radio)- Amendments to an Illinois law will keep the A-C on next summer. Changes to The Public Utilities Act will stop utility companies from cutting off electric or gas customers who are behind on their bills during stretches of extreme heat.
The law already protects residents from having their heat turned off during the winter. The change goes into effect January 1st.
