Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- At last night’s board meeting, Effingham Unit 40 Schools approved the addition of three new School Security Officers to the District. Jim Ealy, Ken Pollum and Tony West were approved and will start their employment within the next several weeks. All of these individuals are Retired Illinois Police Officers and bring with them various specific skill sets that will enhance the new Safety and Security Program for the District.
While we are grateful that our schools have not experienced any major incidents, we believe the safety of all is crucial for effective learning. Effingham Unit 40 Schools have now joined a growing number of districts within the State in adopting similar security measures. This is viewed as a proactive approach to further enhance the well-being of our students, staff and visitors. By adding additional Security Staff, we aim to better assist the School Resource Officer(s) in their duties and ensure a swift and effective response to any potential challenges that may arise.
This approach also aligns with our Strategic Plan to reorganize the School Resource Officer (SRO) Program and update the physical security posture of all Unit 40 Schools. We appreciate your continued support as we prioritize the safety of our educational environment.
