Sinkhole Shuts Down Part Of Illinois Route 185

Springfield, IL-(Effingham Radio)- A large sink hole is being blamed for shutting down Illinois Route 185 between Hillsboro and Coffeen.

IDOT says the 50-foot-wide sinkhole formed in a farmer’s field adjacent to the road. It is located southeast of the John A. Graham Correctional Center. So far, there is minimal damage to Illinois 185. An assessment of the damage will be performed this week to determine when Route 185 may reopen.
