Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office:
WHAT:
- 3-Vehicle Crash With Injuries
WHERE:
- US Highway 40 250 feet west of 700th Street, Jackson Township
WHEN:
- April 23rd at 3:42pm
VEHICLES:
- Unit 1- Blue 2013 Dodge Journey
- Unit 2- Red 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan SE
- Unit 3- Black 2016 Mazda Touring
DRIVERS:
- Unit 1- Male Juvenile, 17, of Altamont
- Unit 2- Male Student Driver, 15, of Effingham
- Unit 3- Jordan B. Pokalsey, 19, of Altamont
PRELIMINARY:
- Unit 1 was travelling eastbound on US Highway 40 approaching North 700th Street. Unit 2 was travelling westbound on US Highway 40 and Unit 3 was directly behind Unit 2. Unit 1 crossed the center line and entered the westbound lane, striking Unit 2. Unit 2 spun and collided with Unit 3. Unit 1 spun and came to rest in the westbound lane near 6973 East US Highway 40. Unit 2 came to rest approximately 100 feet west of Unit 1 and off the roadway. Unit 3 came to rest just off the roadway north of Unit 1.
CITATIONS:
- Driver of Unit 1 was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
- Driver of Unit 3 was cited for operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
TRANSPORTS:
- The drivers of Unit 1 & 3 were taken to HSHS St. Anthony’s Hospital with incapacitating injuries.
