Louisville, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The North Clay Board of Education held their regular meeting on Wednesday and went over a variety of topics, including going over recent events and field trips students have participated in.
The meeting started with Mila Zink, Mila Roby, and Layla Smith being recognized for their accomplishments in track, with Mila Roby setting a new school record. They were congratulated by the Board on their accomplishments, and wished them well in their future endeavors.
The Board also heard from Elementary/Jr. High Principal Ben Borries on recent positive news and important dates at the grade school.

- April 26th – JH Dance
- May 1st – Kindergarten Orientation
- May 2nd – JH Sports Awards
- May 3rd – 2nd Grade to the Zoo, D.A.R.E Graduation 5th grade, Gold Star Mission presented to the Enrichment classes
- May 6 – 10th TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK – School Nurses Day May 8th
- May 9th – Spring Concert
- May 16th – 4th Grade Wax Museum Presentations
- May 17th – PBIS Activities K – 8th
- May 20th – Pre-K Park Day
- May 21st – 8th Grade Promotion – 6:30 p.m.
- May 22nd – PTO Field Day – Last day of school – Student Dismissal @ 12:30
High School Principal Sarah Newby also shared dates and events for the High School.
- April 24- FCCLA Students took a field trip to Evansville for a cookie/cake decorating day
- April 26- FCCLA Food Service Students toured the Firefly Grill and enjoyed lunch
- April 27th- FFA Banquet was held
- April Students of the Month – Kennedy Jones, Hunter Cummins, Sierra Lee
- May Students of the Month- Matia Price, Blake West,
- April 30th- FFA Held their Barnyard Zoo where all the elementary students were invited to view the animals throughout the day.
- May 6th-10th- Teachers enjoyed many items throughout the days for Teacher Appreciation Week
- The FFA held their annual plant sale this month. Plants are still available!
- Senior Awards will be held on May 14th at 7pm
- Students took their Spring Star 360 benchmarks
- SAT Scores became available- English and Math Scores overall are up from last year.
- HS Graduation will be held on May 19th at 3pm with Baccalaureate at 2pm.
- The High School will hold their end of the year PBIS reward day on Friday, May 17th in the afternoon!
Seniors also recently traveled to STL and spent time at the City Museum and also watched a Cardinal Baseball game.
The Board also:

- Heard updates on construction project at HS – Asbestos abatement

- Hire Logan Lotz as High School Boys F/S Basketball Coach for the 24-25 school year. Approved 7-0
- Hire Noah Barnard as HS E-Sports Coach for the 24-25 school year. Approved 7-0
- Hire Maddie Craig as 8th Grade Volleyball Coach (Head Coach) Approved 7-0
- Hire Malorie Craig as 7th Grade Volleyball Coach (Assistant Coach) Approved 7-0
- Hire Adam Frederick as Junior High School Robotics Coach for the 24-25 school year. Approved 7-0
- Approval to post for and give administration permission to hire additional summer maintenance help (hourly position; up to 300 hours) Approved 7-0
- Approval to post for anticipated 1:1 bus aid position for the 24-25 school year Approved 7-0
