Effingham, IL-(Effingham Radio)- The Effingham County Board held their regular meeting on Monday and approved numerous items on the agenda.
The Board approved replacement windows for the County Building, which will be done by Superior Window Company of Centralia. The bid came in just under $200k.
The Board also approved work to replace the gazebo on the courthouse lawn. It is to be replaced by a pavilion at ground level and will include new sidewalks and drainage lines. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources will pay half by way of a grant.
The Board also approved:
- $17,000 in ARPA funds for the Effingham Regional Career Foundation
- $2,500 in hotel/motel funding for Lake Sara 4th of July fireworks (recommended by the Tax & Finance Committee)
The Board also approved several appointments.

The Board also approved an agreement with the City and the Effingham County Dive Rescue Team that will pay the team $10,000 over 10 years, with the funds being reimbursed if the contract is terminated.
Board member Sandra Gillet abstained from votes on City matters, as she is an employee of the City.
Board member Elizabeth Huston was absent from Monday’s meeting.
